1/28 - 2/6
IB Exam assignment As a class, we will work through old IB Exam questions. Students, in assigned small groups (see below), will take responsibility to lead the class through their past IB exam question following the below steps. The time allotted to Paper 2 questions are ~20m for one Section A question and ~80m for two Section B questions (40m each) and ~40m for the CUEGIS essay. We will not be working with CUEGIS in this exercise. Step 1: Student teams will be assigned their question from an IB Exam. Step 2: Teams will read and research, using the in-class textbooks, the content in the questions. Step 3: Teams will prepare typed content notes that will be loaded into a Google doc from step 2. The google doc will be developed following the exam structure including Sections A, questions 1 and 2 and Section B, questions 3, 4 and 5. Teams may need to collaborate between Tuesday and class on Thursday to be ready for steps 4 and 5. Step 4: Teams will be provided both the markscheme and, when available, the examiners report for their question. Step 5: Teams will use the markscheme and examiners report to refine their content notes, where necessary, which will be incorporated into a lesson plan they develop for the class. The content notes will be embedded in the Google doc to facilitate studying for the individual student assessment section. The lesson plan will be 9 minutes in length for 10-mark questions and 18 minutes for 20-mark questions. Step 6: Teams will teach their lessons. Step 7: followed by the class individually answering the questions. Step 8: Individual students will self-assess their answers and return with a reflection and score. It is imperative that teams understand how IB scores and teaches to those standards. It is not enough to know the content, but also how marks are earned by providing IB the depth requested based on the command terms and stimuli. Schedule: 01/28 Tuesday (80m) steps 1-3 01/30 Thursday (50m) steps 4-5 01/31 Friday (50m) step 6 (1 X 18m + 3 X 9m each) Note: Transitions should be ready. 02/03 Monday (50m) step 6 (2 X 18m each) 02/04 Tuesday (80m) step 7 assessment on one Section A (~20m) and one section B (~40m) questions selected by teacher 02/06 Thursday due at the beginning of the period, students will turn in their self-scored assessment with a reflection on their performance. This reflection must include how scores were derived using the language of the markscheme to establish their use of this tool to guide their results.
